exhibition Places & Emotions: sketches and paintings around the Adriatic has arrived in Rijeka, Croatia

We are excited to announce that Davisi's evocative exhibition, "Mjesta i emocije skice i slike oko Jadrana" (Places and Emotions: Sketches and Paintings Around the Adriatic), has made its way to Rijeka and will be proudly displayed at the Društvo Arhitekata Rijeka (DAR) from September 19th to October 3rd, 2025.
This highly anticipated exhibition invites viewers on a visual journey through the artist's unique perspective of the Adriatic region. Davisi, known for her keen observation and ability to capture the essence of a place, presents a collection that beautifully intertwines personal experience with the surrounding landscape.
A highlight of "Mjesta i emocije" is the inclusion of Davisi's renowned Orihon sketchbooks. These intimate volumes offer a rare glimpse into the artist's creative process, showcasing spontaneous observations, on-site studies, and the genesis of her particular format. Alongside these cherished sketchbooks, the exhibition features a series of exquisite postcard-sized watercolour "haiku" paintings. Each miniature canvas is a testament to Davisi's mastery, distilling the scene of everyday life and emotions into small, powerful compositions.
The exhibition promises to be a captivating experience for art enthusiasts and anyone with a love for the Adriatic's rich tapestry of places and feelings.

Opening Day Special: "Infraordinary Tokyo: A Sketchy Dérive Through Cities"
To mark the opening of "Mjesta i emocije" on September 19th, DAR has extended a special invitation to Darko for a lecture titled "Infraordinary Tokyo: A Sketchy Dérive Through Cities." This talk delved into Darko's unique approach to urban exploration, focusing on the often-overlooked details of daily life in Tokyo. Through his "sketchy dérive," Darko guided the audience through an exploration of the city's hidden narratives, revealing the extraordinary within the ordinary.

Holding this exhibition at the Društvo Arhitekata Rijeka (DAR) is especially meaningful. The Rijeka Architects Association is a hub for discussing how design shapes our community and our lives. Given that this city is constantly navigating the tension between its industrial heritage and its future identity, the DAR gallery is the ideal venue for a show that sits at the intersection of art, architecture, and the memory of place.
