co+re, in partnership with Professor Neno Kezić from the University of Split, hosted the 5th international co+re architecture + urban design research workshop. Titled "SKETCH & SCRIPT: the means of knowing and the production of knowledge, Split edition," the three-day event, held from September 11-13, 2025, brought together students from Keio University, co+labo Sano, and University of Split.
Participants delved into two challenging exercises designed to sharpen their observational skills. The first task was to explore and sketch Split's historic old town on postcard-sized paper, capturing its unique character in a limited space. The second exercise challenged students to document "where Split meets the sea" using a 16-page orihon, a traditional folding book format.
The workshop was a vibrant exchange of ideas and perspectives, with students sharing their discoveries and interpretations of Split's urban fabric. A special thank you to Professor Katja Marašević for her invaluable help in securing the incredible venue in the Northwest kula of Diocletian's Palace, providing an inspiring backdrop for our work. We also extend our gratitude to our guests, Professor Snježana Perojević, Marin Petković, and Sanja Žonja, for their insightful contributions to the discussion sessions.
The "Sketch & Script" workshop was a fantastic success, highlighting the power of drawing and writing as essential tools for understanding and documenting the built environment.
