Davisi's Exhibition: "uz more"

The exhibition "uz more" (by the sea) by Davisi, held at the Centar za Kulturu Korčula from 3-17 July 2026, has ended with praise and recognition. It featured a new series of orihon depicting Korčula and its surroundings, along with the palimpsest series also centered around and along Korčula.

Highlights

  • New Set of Orihon: This collection presents artistic depictions of Korčula and its stunning landscapes. Two of the orihon in the series are also a palimpsest book focuses on the "view from above" and "view by the bay", presenting the roofscape of Korčula, together with the stunning views from the Franciscan Monastery near Orebić, while view by the bay was following the paths along the waterfront of Racišće and Babina.

  • Palimpsest painting Series: A further exploration of Korčula old town and its nearby shores, emphasizing its historical and cultural layers of the place. The loose pages from the old Japanese book, A Tale Unasked (Towazugatari) by Lady Nijo, that I bought from secondhand bookshop in Jimboshō many years ago, have reincarnated to tell other visual tales of Korčula.

The exhibition effectively captured the region's essence, attracting the attention of both locals and visitors. The event was featured in local papers.

The closing event on 16th July was marked by co+re 's short lecture. Darko's on the ideas of urbanity and positive arrogance hypothesis of Korčula, and Davisi's on reflection of the creative act of requalification that Korčula should aspire for.

We hope that co+re will return to Korčula in the near future for our international co+re workshops, aim to contribute to the creative inputs for the future of this beautiful place.
